What are you doing to get ready for Steamboat?
« on: August 13, 2007, 09:53:29 am »
Michael and I were chatting this AM about what our workout regime was.  I know Gary has a year-around program. I am in rehab and workingout with ski specific training.

Ride recumbent stationary bike daily, trainging day, one level higher. 30 minutes

Isometric squats with 25# dumbells- about 35 degrees
Lunges with bumbells

not sure what they are called but cable on leg from weight machine, extend front, back and to each side-

Core workouts

What is everyone else doing?  (and yo better be doing something!)

Whoops, I'm either in awe of your workout dedication or in deep trouble.
Recovering from disk surgery.  Walking (just beginning to jog a little).  Trying not to eat too much?

Ron..where do you find "bumbells" for your lunges? Under bridges..soup lines....and do you strap them to your back?

Lynn, yoga and biking...awesome combination for training. Also, some great wider ski choices for your consideration might be the Head Wild Thang, my wifes, 2nd ski in a 156 length or possibly the K2 Lyv in a 153 or 160 length.

Jim...are you currently in physical therapy? I'm thinking core body strenthening would be key for you.

2 more weeks, I bring out the Harb books and videos...

I'm starting to get the ski tingles, hmmmm..which temperature wax should I use for Dec 14th?

I want to find a good wax for the TOPs of my skis...you know how they get scrapped or knicked? I've used car wax but wonder if a wax specific to fiberglass cars might keep those top skins looking new?

Man, way to much non-ski time on my hands.

Best,
Gary

I think one of my Dumbells may have fallen on my head!  Nice.... Dyslexia strikes again!

Gary, I have say that protecting your topsheets is very old school!  Go ahead and post "How to protect my topsheets" over on TGR or Epic and watch what happens!   ;D  Scratches are badges of honor!

My favorite wax is still http://www.racewax.com/servlet/the-33/Molybdenum%2C-moly%2C-wax%2C-ski%2C/Detail  This is great stuff. very long lasting, great stuff. A bit pricey but it goes a long way. Please use my name if you order it!

ooohhh I love this. ? ;D ?Gary, I used to get nicks and scrapes on the tops of my skis from crossing tips and stuff like that, ?but then I found PMTS and that taught me how to ski on the bottoms of my skis and pulling the heels together which helps keep the skis side by side, ?and that took care of most of the nicks and scratches problems. ?Have you considered a Harb green camp?

Gentlemen....how poorly you have misjudged me on this subject matter. Clearly, to know me is to undersatnd me. I am truly a leader in my field having created the sport of Tandum down hill. Ha...you're saying.."now why didn't I think of this".....

If you would both meet me at the run known as 2 o'clock on Dec 16th, Jim can be the the tandee and Ron the tandor...simply, Ron clicks into his brand new IM 78 skis, Jim stands on the tops and I the specialist and leader in the field of Tandum Skiing, gives Ron a wee push and off you go. Can ya just see the look on other skiers faces as they pull over to watch in awe as 2 grown men fly down the mountain on the same pair of skis. Turning is optional and may require syncroniized PMTS technique to accomplish.

Just think guys, you could double the amount of skis you own if you adopt Tandum Downhill as your primary ski style. The possabilties are just endless.

Yup...I'm a true visionary with nicely waxed ski tops!

Not to burst your visionary bubble, but I believe I saw "tandum" skiing already, but using a long mono-ski instead of 'normal' skis.

;D It's ideal for the couple where the guy is always taking the girl places where she doesn't feel comfortable skiing.  ???  She is now a captive participant, he is forever responsible for what happens to her.   :-\

Ok Jim...not to be considered just a follow up act..

I add for your thrill and my laughter..Blindfold ed Downhill Tandum Skiing.

There...will you 2 volunteers step forward please!?!?!?

Yep Ron...I remember well that run...it was a blast. And the trees.....well when I was there, I missed out on fresh snow in the trees. You however sent photos to me while you were there and yup....puffy white snow boot to shin high, oh yeah!
