I attended the blue/dark blue camp at Copper in December '05.? I had read both of his first two books, but at the camp at Copper he was/they were actually teaching some of the stuff out of the third book, especially counter at the top of the turn rather than always facing down the hill (which is common wisdom, don't know that HH really taught that, Lito certainly did).

Haven't attended anything more advanced.? I'm prepared for the fact that I may be one of the lesser skilled skiers in the group and that I'm also probably the oldest, maybe by a significant number of years.? Hopefully won't slow y'all down too much.

No, no worries, I appreciate all the HH teaches but not a devotee or hard-core student. I'll bore you with my story in december , Michael is a former racer and is not a devotee either. I think you will find you fit right in. This is about FUN first off and secondly.

Lynn..beg to differ with you...you found your Mojo 3rd day out and were skiing the crud as well or better than some of the guys.

Jim....actually I'm 146 and still proud of my vigorous work out schedule. The secret to my longevity...?????

Most of my military was spent in the 98th Div Reserve unit....trained Ft. Bragg, Knox and Leonarwood....don't know Norm.
The better part of my time was as Staff Seargent in the band....what a great time.

As far as ski skills, age and all that stuff.....we are going to have a great time, lots of laughs, great food, and awesome skiing and BTW....Michael said you were a speed demon so we'll probably be chasing your PMTS ass all over Steamboat. Ron's got a good taste of PMTS through my preachings including for as best as I could splain it....what I learned from Clendenin in a bump session my wife and I had with him....good stuff!

oh yea my secret.....I forget how old I am!

Oh Jim... my research on the Russian mob stuff did come up with one possibility......di d you shorten your given name and leave out "ski" on the end?  Hmmm....how prophetic!

Best,
Gary

What Michael was polite enough not to say was that I was doing the speed demon imitation on my butt as I slid down the slope.  I fell (sorry, my equipment failed me) on the very first turn and I slid halfway down Snowbird.  It is true that no one was able to keep up with me while I was sliding, but no one wanted to try, either.

ANd see..you were the best at that.....so barring any more equipment failures, we should be able to keep up with you.

Besides, our first day out, everyone is looking to get their ski legs under them. No heroic runs, well unless there is 2 feet of powder and then....all bets are off.

Besides with all the oatmeal you'll be eating, you'll be the ever ready bunny out there!

You got stir duty. Is that related to fluffing?

 ;D

I like that.? Gary as a fluffer.? ?

Advantage Lynn.

Me and oatmeal:

soupy or lumpy, doesn't matter.? I add milk to get the consistency I want.
raisins or not, either is OK.
brown sugar ok, I prefer the honey mixed with butter and on the toast.
milk. 1% preferred, 2% OK, whole tolerable, don't like skim.
NY Oatmeal.? Not familiar with that, Irish whole grain oatmeal is OK.

Fried left over oatmeal.? My mother made it, I never liked it.

Fried mashed potatoes too.  She had to stretch things, and that means reusing things that didn't get eaten the first time around.

Oatmeal continued....

I will compromise on 1% milk, usually use skim.
No raisins, unless you add them after.

For the full fat breakfast---Ron's!

Lyyyynnnn:? ?

This is a SKI vacation, and we want it to be good for you.? And, since we haven't spent big bucks on skis and clothes this year like some members of the forum, and since you are the landlord, I don't think YOU should have to compromise.

I think we should seriously consider whether or not our BUDGET might allow the purchase of TWO 1/2 gallons of milk of which one could be SKIM and one could be 1%.? What say you, roomie???

Besides, we know how attached you are to 'frothed milk'  (or was that 'fluffed milk'    ::)
