I'm looking for a roomie for the December Steamboat trip.

Prefer to stay close to the mountain and with the larger group...

Ok gang...just keeping this out there so there's no last minute rush to find a place and roomate for the 2nd Annual Real Skiers outing at Steamboat. As a reminder....Dec 15-20th.

Post your preferences, one,two and 3 roomates and staying on the mountain or off site.

Rich K posted below and would like to stay on the mountain. He would be willing to share a 2 or 3 bedroom.
Hoping that most stay on the mountain so we can interact for apres ski and first chair.

We've got another really fun group of passionate skiers....can't wait!

Best,
Gary

Ok Gang...Lynn, Rich, Michael, Jim....anybody finding any room info they want to share with all?

I'm thinking 90 days out the better room choices might be picked clean.
I know Rich is looking for a roomie on the mountain. Ron's condo builidng does have rooms available.

Let's get some suggestions up here.

I found a 2 bedroom condo on the mountain thru VRBO.com. Not so close to you guys, but ski in/out. Jim has graciously decided to split this with me.

Let's do a couple of dine-in dinners. I formally invite all over for some cheap wine/pasta/salad.

But no whining ;D

I'm a little bit confused.  Lynn says that we are down to double digits, Gary references 90 days??

It's August and skiing is in December.  In between August and December used to be September, October, and November.  Each of those is 30 days, plus or minus a few, plus another 15 days in August and 15 days in December.  That should add up to close to 120 days until December 15th??  Did someone remove one of the months and I missed the memo?  I know the ancient Jewish calendar (maybe still does) has a leap month every 13 years or something like that, but I've never heard of the Gregorian calendar losing a month.  Someone please help poor befuddled me.

Jim
I am referencing the Realskiers site countdown to thanksgiving (based on utah openings). In years past, Hunter and other northeast mountains would often strive to have some slopes open that weekend. Not  recently, though.

Stop nit picking, Jim! ;D I'm just trying to cheer Ron up! The guy needs some 'fluffing'. It's been a long, hot summer. haven't you noticed?
Or doesn't virginia not get hot in the summer? ???

somehow, I get the feeling, I don't know why, that this ski outing will be a lot of fun. Let the ripostes, RIP!

"Fluffing" ????? Is that what you call 12 new pair of skis, three new outfits, and a new helmet?

OK, I understand and will obey.

Signed,
befuddled.

PS.? I did ski at Thanksgiving here in Virginia once.? That would be awesome, to get a couple of days in before Colorado.
PPS.? It's been a very dry summer with some hot weather here and there, but not really as oppressive as some.  The lack of rain has been accompanied by a lack of humidity, and 98 degrees with 25% humidity is much better than 98 with 65% humidity.

Thanksgiving is like the general opening day for mant resorts. I doubt but hope we will have something by December 1. If Gary gets snow or they open Bristol, I'm heading up if he'll still ski with me after the topsheet comments...

Ouch! I've been dissed!!!!

For the record, I did buy 3 pairs of skis but I sold one pair and will be selling another. I bought early due to the great savings and besides, I really NEED them My top sheets get all nicked up and I can use them anymore (oh sarchasm) . The Helmet, yes I bought the helmet, come on' 50% off and now I don't have to drag back and forth.

You missed my other purchases...

Silva ski speedometer- diss it and you dont' get to see how fast you ski! 50% off! Yes, I am a ski-geek....

Hotronic M4 boot heaters- ever ski in Atomic RT ti's? About as thermal as a pair of running shoes... Love them to death and wouldn't trade them.  on sale for $135!

FREE- Leki replaced my ski poles which broke with brand new upgraded ones. Free is always good.

REgarding the lodging, that's fantastic. Everyhting there is close so where are you staying? I'm sure it's within 5-10 minute walk. I accept the offer for dinner and also invite you all over for cheap but good wine, pasta and desert.

We can all polish Gary's skis after dinner.....

We are having the unit painted and putting new carpeting in so no throwing the pasta around the house please!

It's over on the left off of 'Right of Way' I think, near the Christie lifts?

Ron, I wouldn't worry about the Pasta throwing, I would worry about Gary waxing any imperfections in the paint job.? ?:)

By the way, the online Steamboat trail map is about the worst I've seen on the web!!

Yes, that map absolutely sucks! I may have anextra I can mail you if you like.  Let me know.

I think I know where you are, Bear Creek or something like that? Eitehr way, they about a 10 minute walk at best. Nothing is far up there. They are regrading and moving those lifts by Christy. They arae putting in a 6 pack lif that will much improve access. Most likely you will want to walk over to the Gondola in the AM to get over to the Sunshine peak area. Its less than 5 minutes. you can atually pole over.

I can't wait till mr. cassara sees the assault that has been made on him!  Are you saying that my best friend gary is anal-retentive?  A perfectionist, say it isn't so.  (this is from one neurotic to another) ;D ;D

Ok Gang...first of all "Fluffing" is not a word that should be used because I have been told by a specialist in let me say..ah..
movies of the flesh...fluffing is a term used to prepare some of the actors..

Now moving on..

No one messes with my skis tops or bottoms, pasta, wax, files or brushes..Well I had some guys mess with my previous SS and as Ron knows...them messed them up big time. This was at Steamboat so we know were NOT to take skis if you are doing anyting drastic. We DO know were to take them...this place has a factory type machine were the only thing human hands do is put them into the machine and they come out factor perfect. Well...then I give them the final touches...and that's just me.
Still no machine for making the tops look factory fresh....could be a big joint venture invention for us to make gazillions, and ski as a troup for ever...liking that!

Dinning in...big on that...sounds wonderful...cept that, we'll make sure we bring nice wine.

AND BTW...I prefer to be referred to as overly attentive than anal retentive....still as I think of it, it's still potato, potato, and tomato, tomato.

Yes Ron...we are who we are...now go buy an outfit to match your new helmet. I think a GOLD ONE PIECE would be perfect for you!

Gary

a Gold fartbag to go with your shiney blemish-free topsheets?  Hmmm, I am thinking I am scared...

I wasn't going to say anything about the fluffer thing, thanks gary, tactfully addressed.....

the only people who are going to worry about their topsheets are the same folks who will ski the greens all season and only need one tune a year......Gary, is this like "metrosexual" skiers?
