And it won't be soon enough......

Greg, sorry you can't join the RS crew, hopefully next year.

Greg, I know you mentioned the 88's, but Ron and I were looking at the new fatties tested here. I think I would seriously consider the Dynastar Legend Mythic Rider (love the graphics) and the Fischer Watea 94. Both got great reviews and could be better choices over the 88's.

I personally find at my body weight the 82mm width plenty of ski for up to knee up powder when fortunate enough to get it. I had a pair of Head 77 Chips I skied in knee high and felt a wee more width would be benefical. The 82's a way more verstaile ski than the 77's were.  I do like the above mentioned ski reviews and if you're thinking 88mm under foot, you might gives those 2 skis some thought.

Best,
Gary

Two great suggestions, I would throw the mojo90 and thr Elan 888's into that group as well. A bit of a tweener' ski, its not a true pow ski and not like a mid-fat all mountain ski, a bit softer than the Mythics but stiffer than most pow skis. You can get them for about 350-400 as leftovers. I would say that if you are going to go with 82's, then go at least 10mm wider for the next step up.? I really liked the looks of that Watea 94. You may also be able to get ahold of a pair of leftover Fischer Atua's. That's a great ski that some here have had or demoed. I wouldn't mind finding a cheap pair of those.......

Gary, the only ski you should consider is the one with the protective aluminum topsheet.

May have been an Elan (888?), certainly wasn't a Volant.  I read the description in SKI and instantly thought "the perfect ski for topsheet protective Cassara"
"If you're gonna play the game boy, ya gotta learn to play it right."

Thanks Jim...but the number of coats of Hot Tub finish polisher I put on....whatever I'd get would be bullet proof.

Still, love the graphics on that Dynastar Legends Mythic Rider......ah cool...that's me Legends (in my own mind) Mythic Rider.

Hey ROn...lot's of Red and white in this ski....just think...your white boots, white pants and Red jacket...

Very slick!

G

Jim's right!  The 888 was made for "no-scratch" Gary....... It has an alu top skin. The Mythic Rider and other in that line are the coolest looking Graphics in 08' by far, they are really great looking. Inititial reviews from over at Epic show the 888 is a touch more soft snow oriented than the Mystic Pizza..err, I mean Mythic Rider
