I have the chance to pick up a pair of left over stock for an excellent price (too good to pass up...). I know the 1100 SW from last year and the 1200 this year feature the sandwich/race construction vs the cap on the 1400, but does anyone have any experience on the 1400. Are they really unacceptable or are the SW models just "that little extra bit" better. I hate to let these go by.
I am an East Coast skier, 90% skiing in Maine so edge grip in tantamount. I am a lousy bump skier, but am trying to learn. I know this is not a "bump ski", but would it be serviceable for an occasional bump run or for the end of the day when things are getting bumped up on their own.
I am looking to replace a 4 y/o pair of Elan S12 (my every day East Coast ski) and was hoping these skis might fill the bill. I have a pair of Fischer WC RC I use for local Beer League Races and on smooth groomers, but I find these a bit too stiff in bumps for my level of skill. The S12 were OK so I am hoping that the 1400 chips would be vertically similar to the S12 and softer than the RC, but be stiff torsionally for good edge hold. Anyone have any insight
Thanks,
Richard
