The Magnificent Elk Mtn. Demo Day
« on: December 27, 2010, 12:06:54 pm »
is Friday, Jan. 7 in beautiful Carbondale, Pa.? ::) Well, the views are much better than downtown Scranton Pa.

Jim and Lynn are scheduled to be in attendance, so, some good PMTS technique will be seen on "Tunk". Lift that demo ski, tip that knee.

Phil promises to develop a list of hot eastern skis.

Come on up Ron and whoever else is around.

Hey Mike, the 9th is a Sunday. I can't make it although I just skied with a level 3 examiner and we worked on tipping the knee would I still be able to attend?  ;D

Modified your post to indicate the correct date as 1/7/11.
And yes, the view at the top of Tunkhannock is MUCH nicer
than downtown Scranton! :D

Looking forward to meeting and doing a few turns.

Thanks Lynn
Both for fixing the date and for correctly spelling Tunkhannock - I took the easy abbreviation.

Ron,
How'd it feel tipping a 115mm waist ski? My knees don't like it on my 88's.
You are certainly welcome, still have the MX78's as they would love Tunkhannock.

nice List-

Mike, it was only 98 - the ones.  The Bent Chetlers are 123. This is a fantastic ski. It's easily my most favorite powder ski.  thanks phil!

Blizzard:
G-Power  (72 waist)
Supersonic (72 waist)

Kastle:
RX/RX12

Salomon:
Enduro (84 waist)

Nordica:
Spitfire EDT (72 waist)

Phil,
I'm trying to remember who is there. For sure Head, Dynastar, K2, Volkl, Fisher, Rossi and Kastle were there last year. I seem to remember you strong armed your Kastle rep into doing it (Bless you my friend). Don't want to dis the above, but, my interest is not another 72 waist carver.

I hope to get on the Sultan 94, the ONE if Blizzard returns and a Head KERS Supershape basic or Titan, Magnum if not. A sub 70 Fisher carver would be sweet and the Kastle RX which I loved last year. The S3 if it is not an ice skating rink. 3 wider more versatile western oriented skis, 3 eastern carvers.

But perhaps the big news, I have a pm from a well respected member indicating a certain very wide, very short radius, wooden topped, custom engraved pair of skis may be there and available if the bindings can open to 335 mm for "big-foot". Extremely generous offer! I'm all up for it assuming the snow conditions work. ;D

Weather patterns indicate the January thaw is coming this weekend. Pray that Elk can recover by weeks end.

Any other thoughts ....anyone?

Very Wide??? Only 100mm!!? ?;D
335mm isn't a problem.? You'll be impressed by the flexibility of the Tyrolia Power Rails.? That's only a few clicks bigger than my boot (307m).

Weather forecasts are indicating a mini-pow day is probable. The heck with the carvers! Ones', Sultans', Chariots' and S3 may rule.

Doing some prep work at Huntah (as Lynn would say) tomorrow. Bus leaves Philly at 5 am  >:( What some people will do to ski.

I think Mike should demo the 186 in the S3....These skis have a huge speed range and stable at all of them.      G

Mike and Gary,
One thing that I have learned about the S3 is that the longer ski is significantly different with more rocker.  Why they did that, who knows.  Everyone says that the longer S3 is a definite demo before you buy.

BTW - I am a nanometer from buying my skis ???
mikes comment about not spending vacation standing around ski shops waiting for the binding adjustment made too much sense.
