Ron:

You were looking good (or did you hire someone wear your jacket for the picture).   ;D  ;D

How about a ski assessment of the new Icelantics working in the terrain they were designed for ??

yes, truth be, I did hire a stand in.....

THe nomads are all mountain boards that are excellent in all conditions except hard pack, they just don't have much edge hold.  OTher wise, it's a easy ski that has a lot of energy pop and is very quick underfoot. Although they are short, mine are 168 twins, they are plenty stable and just a ton of fun. 140-105-120, they are very nimble and a blast to carve soft snow on. very easy to get on edge. Powder? A blast, even at the 2 plus feet, they were a nice blend of float but still stayed down in the fluff somewhat. Very maneuverable and again, plenty of stability for Steamboat. For real experts who may blast around at 50mph in big bowls, they may feel a bit shky but since I am not in that category, they are just too much fun. I think Gary will say similar things. Icelantic skis really have a unique feel to them that is just perfect for me.

AMEN.

And the same thing happened last year.  Steamboat had fantastic snow the whole week after Real Skiers was over with.

Whaddya mean Phil???  Since you were there this year, we had MUCH better snow this year than last.
It's just that it got even better after we left.  And, they had really good conditions the first year at Beaver Creek.
My conclusion, the Snow Gods were being kind to me and trying not to provide more snow than I could handle.

Ron, is your snow measuring method similar to Gary's ski tuning method.  Will the depth vary according to the skier's tool?
Sometimes you just need to let your Bad Self ski!!

Ron, are those black diamond powder baskets on the bottom of your poles?  Do you notice a big difference between those and "standard" baskets.
Thx - those Icelandic skis are intriguing

very keen observation. I really like the baskets. They provide improved stability float in powder for poling.

Snowhot- As much as I would love to say "the snow was very deep"  Wink, wink........
