RS Holiday Gift Exchange
« on: October 28, 2008, 12:41:27 pm »
Ok Gang...our tradition in the past is to have a gift exchange at the RS event. A dinner night out or in with all the gang and a $20 gift exchange.

I personally would like to continue this tradition but put it out there that if anyone does not want to receive purple long johns, a ski snorkel or similar fun winter gifts, let me know.

I will be putting names in a hat and doing an officially unmonitored but completely honest drawing of the names and then post who is buying for whom.

Any objections, let me know. Figure we'd all need at least 6 weeks to figure out what to buy.

It's always a fun evening with great food and amazement on people's faces that shout...you got me a what?

The drawn names will be posted within 24 hours of this post. Those not interested speak now or forever hold your peace!  >:D

It would be nice to know when people will be arriving at the Boat....I know Ron, Ed, Phil and I will be getting there mid afternoon on the 13th of Dec. Would like to hear from the rest so we can set up a nice get together dinner. I know Lynn is not quite sure for arrival on the 13th. Let us know as you can.

Best,
Gary

Gary:

Count me in for the gift exchange, although I remember some people last year not being overly pleased with their gifts.? Who would have thought that Lynn wouldn't like a baseball cap where the front lit up like a Christmas tree?? Seriously, who would have thunk she had such "stuck up" tastes.

I currently expect to drive up from Dillon the afternoon of the 13th, even though I haven't made reservations yet.? Assuming Lynn gets her "no vacation first 6 months" at new job worked out, she and I are probably sharing a vehicle -- but I'm wanting to fly Thursday to Thursday and do a day at Breck and A-Basin before driving on to Steamboat.  That is pretty much the same as what I did last year, and then picked Ron and Lynn up at the Hayden airport.

Thanks Jim and Greg for getting right back.

So Jim we'll be seeing you sometime in the afternoon on the 13th so you'll be in for dinner.
Greg, you get in on the 14th....morning or afternoon?

Just need to know Lynn's schedule when she can.

Ridge running indeed....I'm already there fellow ridge runners....let's get it on!

Gee Jim...and she could have worn that hat anywhere on the mountain and felt like well....your sister....now whatever was she thinking!  ::)

Ok..so just waiting to hear from Lynn on her day of arrival.

Best,
Gary

Should get to the base area around 2:30 pm.  I think I'm gonna try Ron's trick of shipping my skis this time....

oK....I think we can safely say all are in for the gift exchange.

I cut up little pieces of paper with the 7 names and put them into THE brown folder. I proceed to shake them up and here's what came out:

Gift exchange partners:

Ron buys for Jim
Gary buys for Greg
Phil buys for Ron
Greg buys for Lynn
Lynn buys for Gary
Ed buys for Phil
Jim buys for Ed

Ed MacMann stopped by and verified the authenticity of the drawing.

Remember, some useful item around $20......tied to skiing would be nice but not necessary.

Thanks all,
Gary

Gottcha Phil...already passed that along to Ed.

Just so happens he has a friend who lives on the Scottish coastline and he'd be happy to go down to the beach, step over the rocks and bottle some of that sea water for ya!

Oh for Rossi Sakes..say it....DUNKIN DOUGHNUTS Coffee....THere...

It's great coffee so I agree with Glen. Having said that, it's nice to sample all the fine coffees all around the world.

Sticking with just one coffee...how boring would that be.

Hazelnut anyone?

Hmmm....Ron..someth ing that will light up for Jim..

There's got to be hundred's of things.

Did anyone beside me see Boston Legal where the boys went to a dude ranch. Did ya see the light up cowboy hats they wore. Ron...wouldn't they be just perfect for Steamboat and your secret Santa?

Geeez....Jim get's all the cool stuff!

Not so secret Santa (AKA RON the ski-buyer):

I hope your parent's successfully taught you about respect for your elders.? By the time RS III gets here I will be 60 years old, and I think that is deserving of a bit of respect??

Instead of a cowboy hat, how about a gift certificate at the "Old Fart's Steep Sheep and Cheep Ski Worehouse"?? ?;D

How about a pair of .... (whups, forgot what I was going to say)!!? ;D
