175cm Progressors are on the way!
« on: December 03, 2007, 05:08:35 pm »
I've been able to sell 3 sets of not-really-needed skis. Today I contacted Scott (Dawgcatching) and he will be shipping the '08 Fischer Progressor tomorrow. I should get them just in time for the 'boat!

I been wanting this model since I learned about it earlier this year. I was able to demo the ski at Loveland, and it did not disappoint. It is as stable as a GS ski. Easier to turn than a Worldcup RC or my Scenio S500 all-mountain ski. Great carving & crud performance.

I sold my Dynastar Contact 11's from last year. These will be missed... they were an all-around wonder ski. I also sold A pair of Dynastar XXL & Elan Speedwave 14's. These skis were new but never really needed. Compulsive buying... :P

Cheers,

Michael

You get away with murder. If poor Ron bought and sold and bought!!! the way you do, he would never, ever hear the end of it.
It must be in the way you couch your exchange of skis.
Congratulations, btw. Always fun to get the ONE ski that you really NEED!
Teasing you, of course,

But that is the real joy.? Each ski is the "one ski" that is needed.? ? ???

OK Jim, the kissing smiley face is a little weird  ??? (among other things).

My new motto is very simple, "A one-ski-quiver is great, as long as you have all the other skis, too".

Michael:

Yeah, Lynn has informed me once before that I am icon challenged.  I tend to not pay much attention and just click on one, but I did edit and remove kissy smiley face.

I just wanted to say I think that is a tremendous motto.

Michael, great ski choice and I love the new motto!  Lynn, umm hate to break this one to you but I am just as bad as Micheal. I bought and sold my 78's, bought and returned my Elan 14's and bought and sold my PE's. I bought and are now using dynastar LTD's and bought and are using my Watea94's. I bought a pair of Contact 11's earlier this summer too.

I also just bought a new pair of Head S11 boots (that I absolutely love).

I am defenseless and icon challenged, and the abuse is merciless.   ;D :o  :D  :(  :o  :-[  :-[  :-[

Vision???  Are you asking about the eye with the cataracts or the one with the detached retina??
And, yes, I do wear thick glasses.  Actually, the problem here isn't vision, it's lack of attention.  I just grabbed an icon that had a smiley face and didn't notice that it was animated (and that the animation was not what I wanted).

So, Lynn, thank you for "Grin - Evil - Kiss".   Pretty sure I'll post more slowly in the future.

Not related to anything, but Ron is 12 posts away from 1000.? Wonder if he'll make it by Steamboat.
Ahhh, what am I thinking.? I wonder if he'll be there by midnight?

An emoticon is a short sequence of keyboard letters and symbols, usually emulating a facial expression, that complements a text message. An abbreviation itself (of emotion icon), the term is sometimes referred to by the name of the original emoticon, the smiley :-) became  :) . Mike Jones, who works in the systems and networking research group at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Washington, has determined that the first smiley was posted on September 19, 1982.

Thank you Jim for the explanation as I learn and grow just  reading skiing and non-skiing stuff that appears here in the General discussion department.

Now....I'm going right off to post an article about skiing> ;D

I just want to thank Scott (Dawgcatching), the Progressors arrived today.

Perfectly tuned & prepped, as usual. I'll be using the Z17 Fischer bindings, borrowed from my 2007 WC SC's. The ski & binding colors don't match but I like the higher DIN that this model offers.

Now, do I wait until the base is really deep & consistent, or do I use 'em this weekend in Steamboat  ???.

;D Great new skis?  Go for it.  Use them this weekend unless the temps get warm between now and then or the base seems to be less than what I expect they will have by then.  I assume that most of the groomed slopes will be in pretty good shape, off-piste unknown.  At the very least bring them and play it by ear.

Michael...ya gotta bring em....
The base on the groomed runs is gonna be just fine. They never even opened up the upper area of the mountain until they had enough snow oh natural or man made.

Besides, you'll only keep them 2 weeks and out they must go for the next pair....keeheehee!

Rip it or park it!

I have a differing opinion, the snow shoud be very soft and something fatter may be a little more fun and versitile to jump in and out of trees and play in loose stuff on the sides.

Float at the Boat' yes.....float is used during the transition phase of "Harbesk" turns...
Let the float happen....use this key technique to open all mountain skiing!

Ok Ron, ..I'm being a wise acre......I know you want to ski your fatties until the cows come home.....

But...you have to admit...skiing my SS out at Greek Peak last week was pretty darn rockn' your socks!

Hmmmm.....I feel this is a bit like the wild west when the cattle farmers didn't want sheep grazing in the same pastures their cows were in...cause they ate the entire grass and root.

Come on...there's enough great conditions for both sheep and cattle to eat!

Gary

P.S. does that make your C-11's another sharing animal...like ostrich maybe?

Well I have to agree with you-all!

Jim, I am bringing another pair, umm... maybe more.
Ron, a mid-fat or fatter would be a one-ski-quiver of choice for da-'boat, absolutely!
Gary, I will always want to carve-'em up any time the surface is in any way firm, and skinny skis do carve better than fat skis...

I'll just have two bring 3 pair, it's the only solution!

Ok Michael...you can have your sheep graze in my ostrich fields and I'll prepare Rons cattle for dinner.

Now Ron...I'm not sure I'd say that the fatties are SO much more fun but when the snow is around the ankles EVERYWHERE,
the Wateas come out to cruise and crush!

Hmmm....I think we really should hire a ski caddy!

Well, the Progressors (117-70-100mm) are coming for carving, the Spats (120-125-115mm) are in for deep snow...

Debate: Do I need a midfat?

Jim....the straw the broke the camels back...Ok no caddy work for you!

Michael....I'm no brilliant mathematician...but you said 3 skis...

Now in my mind...and let me be perfectly frank...

You should have no problem skiing those 70 underfoot beauties up to boot high and not hiccup!

I'm still chuckln' over the dims on the Spats, reverse camber and all....they have got to be something to ski on.

Honestly....I figure you won't even find a good reason to take the Spats out unless for our cat adventure or to laugh your butt off as I try to lay down some major High C carve lines with them on a groomer.

Still, I haven't seen a pair and shelping them to the boat is just as easy as tossing them in the car then bring em.

So...you have a midfat in your garage?

Hi Gary,

Yes, I think the schlep-ing won't be too bad. I'm taking a taxi or limo from the house to the terminal both to & fro. I'm being picked up in Denver curbside by my salesman (in a Yukon), he is dropping me at the Inn at Steamboat.

The midfat I could bring is a 183cm Monster 82 with Demo bindings, maybe Ed would like to try 'em. These are also my rock skis and good to have if coverage is thin.

Should I bring three?

Seriously Michael...bring the Progressors and the 82's.....

Powder cats...you get a pair of fatties.

I thought you had a car so bringing 3 not so bad....going by taxi or limo then being picked up, dropped off....ski bags, suitcase, boot bags...etc...

Nope...seems to me 2 pairs should do the trick and the 82's will take you knee high no problem if push came to shove.
