Marker 1300 TI Piston
« on: December 03, 2006, 09:57:06 pm »
I was considering mounting the Marker 1300 Ti piston binding on my Legend 8000's. I have the Look PX 12, but I love the piston bindings on my K2's, although they are the IBX Piston, which I expect to break any day, but the TI 1300 is a much more sturdy binding. I have never used Look bindings, so I am a little cautious to try them now. Any suggestions?

Does anyone have any experience with a setup similar to this, or have you ever used Marker for hard backside skiing? Is the PX 12 the better way to go?

I'd go with the PX12 Look bindings simply because they are highly compatible with your Dynastars. The Autodrive design in your Dynastars works best with toe and heel piece bindings the PX12 offers. As I recall, Autodrive enhances flex and counterflex of the ski, and the Marker piston control bindings may impede the Autodrive design. Why risk it ??

Besides, piston control bindings are best used with skis that are built to accomodate them (e.g., Volkls with the rail system). I don't believe these bindings are as nearly as compatible as the PX12's are.

Forget the Markers and go with the Looks.

Thanks Ken, that sounds right, I just saw someone with that hook-up and it made me consider it...for a minute!
