Want to Replace Marker SC bindings
« on: October 30, 2006, 08:09:58 am »
Couple of weeks ago, I was given a pair of Dynastar Autodrive Speed Carve 63s with mounted Marker 9.2 Turbo Selective Control bindings. Skis and bindings are about 5 years old and virtually brand new (ski was rarely used by the original owner). I do not believe the Selective Control function on the Marker bindings will work because of the Autodrive Plate in the ski. Don't ask me why the owner wanted this set-up. The skis were free anyway.

I want to know if I can re-fit the ski with a pair of 2005 Look Pivot 10 bindings with near-zero mounting issues (i.e. drilled holes, binding placement, etc.). I do know Look bindings were very compatible with the Dynastar Autodrive skis which hit the scene years ago, and I want to do justice for my skis.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Hi Ken,

As long as the plate was not damaged when the Markers were installed you should have no problem installing the Looks.

Just be sure the shop fills all the holes after removing the first set of bindings.

Cheers,

Michael

Just picked my skis from the ski shop with the remounted Looks. Was told the remount was a cinch and the Looks were made for the Dynastars. Technician who did the remount could not believe why the Marker SCs were even selected for the ski. Said the Marker SCs were best used for flat skis (no pre-drilled holes and no integrated plates) with a  relatively soft flex. Other than that, he said SCs have no real upside despite all the hype by Marker.

Can't wait to rip the mountains in NH, MA, and VT !!
