Title: Bindings (and Placement) For Icelantic Nomad SFt 181
Post by: Liam on December 03, 2009, 11:40:41 am
Cost and availability has me looking at a few binding to use with these new skis-I know a few folks here are fans of the Icelantic and I'd love to get some learned opinions:

I'm Looking at the Rossii Freeski2 140XXL (exact same binding as the Dynastar-Look PX 14 Racing XXL) with a 120mm Brake or The marker Griffon regular or Marker Griffon Schizo.

I'm about 175-180, 5'10.  They'll be used as a soft snow ski while patrolling and while free skiing.

Any thoughts?  And where are folks mounting these sort of skis (these will be the fattest skis I've ever owned, and the first twin tip).

Thanks

Liam

Rossi's and Dynastar's are both great bindings but pretty heavy.  I think you'd like the lighter weight of the Griffon or Jester on a ski like the Nomad soft...

Liam without a doubt go with the Griffon, I have the SFT (and you will love this ski) mount point is always a preference thing but look at +1, +2. Mine are +2

Thanks for the speedy reply, guys!  Just for my own education-a heavy binding on a lighter ski is not as desirable because..??  Does it overwhelm the ski??

Ron-what's the advantages of each cm increment forward in binding placement?  What does plus get over plus one??  Better hard snow performance...but soft snow float stays prominent??  Thanks-I'm still trying to wrap my head around the ins and outs of binding placement.

So you're liking the Nomad SFT's, huh?  Glad to hear it-I took a blind plunge on these, but the pro-price and the support and discussions with Icelantic themselves sealed the deal for me.
