What is the best Ski resort close to NJ?
« on: February 27, 2007, 10:13:11 pm »
I will be moving from WI to South Plainfiled NJ (50 miles S from Newark) for a new job. And I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best place to go skiing up there? Blue Mountain PA looks pretty good and only 1.5h away.

I would greatly appreciate any advices!

Aleksey.

Aleksky, welcome to my world. I live in Clinton, NJ (Hunterdon County). Are you living in South Plainfield or just working there? blue would be a bit farther than, if are living in Essex county, then it may actually be just a bit longer but better to drive to Hunter or Windham. My favorite is still Elk in PA. I will PM you with my cell # to discuss. If you are an out doors - more woods type person, you should look to move out my way or to Sussex county area. The Plainfeilds and surrounding areas are way too crowded for me. The Watchung, bernardsville, basking ridge, Bedminster areas are very nice as well but much more $.

Michael, nice joke!! ;D

Ron, thanks a lot for information and advices. All resorts you mentioned look very nice! I really appreciate it! It would definitely be helpful for me to talk to you since I haven't decided where I will live once I move to NJ.

Hi Alesky,

As a fellow Midwesterner, I can say that the skiing in PA is better than anything in the Midwest, including the U.P.

Plus Vermont is a four hour drive and I think you will really enjoy the skiing at Killington or Stowe.

Enjoy, I wish I had a better local ski area.
