Hey Michael,
As I see it...you've got the upper end of the ski spectrum covererd with your big boy skis..and you've got the carve em up rip em up end covered with your choice of Fischer WC and RX8's..
Seems that middle ground lacks some coverage.
Now I say this considering your body weight. For me at 154lbs, the RX8's serving my carving need and powder snow up to boot high. With serious snow above the boots, I grab the 82's and get all the float I need.
I'm thinking that good skiers in the 190lbs plus range may actually need the 3rd ski for snow in the knee high range to provide expected performance and? float. Yes, that same ski could provide float for the boot high to knee high, but you give up some quickness and forgivness as well as the ability to ski at slower speeds with control.
Enter a ski like the IM82. The skier that I described above that wants to have MAXIMUM control and perfomrance with each ski for? the conditions may want to add something in that 75 - 82 mm waist. The question and the basis for my point is "AM I A? SKIER THAT WANTS MAXIMUM CONTROL AND PERFORMANCE WITH EACH SKI FOR A SPECIFIC CONDITION"?
I think yours is a good call based on your size, ski skills, and I think desire to have a ski for the conditions that is not a "half ass performer" but a full "I got a pair" tear it up ski!
Both the Contact (9, 10, and 11) and Im 82 could be great choices. I know you've demoed the 82's. Maybe a Contact demo at the Beav is in order. Length, I'm thinking head high should do it.
Best,
Gary
